That's not correct.

If you unselect the checkbox, the GS will ignore any 5.25" drives
connected to it.  Unselecting the checkbox tells the GS you don't have any
drives even if you do have drives connected.  They won't show up on the
desktop so if you have a need for 5.25" disks, you need to reselect the
checkbox and reboot before you can use them.

I've done this way for years to remove the icons from the desktop but
they're still connected to the GS.  Short of the driver hack, I don't know
of any way to make it 'see' only 1 drive.
