Sorry, mine sees the single drive I have attached, with the box checked.
Deselecting the box doesn't tell it you have none. What it does do is not
look inside for a real disk, thus it has no idea how many you have. Mine
will always show 2 drives deselected, and 1 selected with only 1 connected

Rebooting after preference changes I agree with.

Ok, this last part implies that you have 2 drives connected physically,
but only want to see one of them? Or did I read that wrong?
Let me ask this. Is it possible I have a hacked/unhacked version of
the OS? Maybe there are no original unhacked versions except the
one on Apple.Com. Anyway, our findings don't seem to jive, and I
much rather use things the way they come than mess with them.
