Ow!   You have to use a continuity checker to find which wire goes to which
pin. There is no standard for what color of wire goes to which pin.

They don't bother to connect unused pins, that's normal.  With software
handshaking, and slow speeds, all you need is three wires. Rx, Tx, and
ground.

That's the best solution for the non-tinkerer. I'm an electronic tech, so I
routinely make my own.

I'm not familiar with ColorTerm. Xmodem will work, Zmodem is easier.
