Thanks for your suggestions and taking the time to look into it.

Currently, my configuration is that the two 3.5" Apple Disk drives are
connected to the back of the IIGS in slot #5. While the single, 5.25" drive
is in slot #6 - same as my hard drive, I believe.

Would it be safe to do that? Which Apple IIGS manual would be useful in
explaining how to adjust the 'Smartport' settings and what the
correct/standard configuration is?
