I had the same debate, and eventually settled it by acquiring both a ROM1 and a ROM3. I've got an original CFFA in the ROM1, a CFFA3000 in the ROM3. Both also have a TransWarp GS, 4 MB ram cards and Drew II stereo cards in them. I bought a second CFFA3000 that I had intended to put in the ROM3, but after plugging it into my IIe to play with it first, I've decided it stays where it is. I'll probably buy a 3rd CFFA3000 for the ROM3 at some point assuming that another run is produced. The more I fiddle with that card (especially since installing the latest firmware update), the more I wonder how I ever got along without it.
I guess I'll just hang onto the ROM 03 board and if/when the ROM 01 dies then I'll replace it. I've got an enhanced IIe and a pair of IIc's, one a IIc+. I use the GS more than any of the other three, though the IIc+ is nice running at 4MHz.
