Re: TransWarp GS repair questions

Hi Jonas,

Don't worry, I will definitely work one step at a time, and I definitely will be conscious of heat in the GS case. I will definitely be careful of stressing the cache card, but like I mentioned before, I have a professional grade vacuum pump desoldering tool and as such I average about 2-3 seconds per solder joint for desoldering and rarely ever have to make a second pass on any joints so I'm not too worried about causing damage to the cache card during the work I will do. In other news I found another power supply that suits my needs already in my collection. It is a server supply with a proprietary card edge connector on it but its dimensions are perfect for fitting in a IIGS and it is WAYYYYYYYY over spec. I will never have power supply issues again, since in addition to being super powerful it is also probably quite stable and clean power at least from what I know about server supplies. It is a GIN-6350P 350 Watt supply with the following specs:

 Output Characteristics

Voltage OutputMin OutputMax RippleAndNoiseMax
+3.3V 1.0A 20A 50mV
+5V 3.0A 35A 50mV
+5VSB 0.1A 2.0A 50mV
-5V 0.1A 0.5A 120mV
+12V 2.0A 22A 120mV
-12V 0.1A 0.8A 120mV

I have figured out a provisional pinout for the edge connector on the power supply, but I have contacted the company that produces it anyway just to be sure. I will keep you all notified as more progress is made!
