I've had time to do a little more testing and it certainly seems that
the CB and the Z80 softcard are incompatible regardless of what slots they are in. Alex, I know this is only beta at present but do you think it would be possible

I didn't look at it for a few years now, but I'm sure the soft z80 that is present in both 500 and 250 versions of the CB could be configured to act as a SoftCard clone. However somebody other than me has to do it.
BTW given the availability of Applicard - the original one any my replica that can run at up to 20 MHz - I don't see much need for FPGA based z80 coprocessors. I think the market was saturated with the 20 boards I had made, but if there is a need I could make more.
