With most mid-priced FPGA's and some CPLD's, you should be able to fit
the entire ][+ logic + processor into a single device. Writing the
VHDL code may be a job, but there's a free VHDL 6502 core that you can
use for starters. There's nothing complicated about the Apple][+, nor
is there anything particularly difficult about the associated HDL. It
is a big job, though, and you've really got to want to do it, in light
of the fact that you can get an Apple][+ at the local thrift store for
about $5.
