I did a search of the net, but couldn't find that anywhere. Know of any
place the article can be found?

That may be true, but those versions are not available for download. I've
been working with 6.0.1, which can be downloaded from several sources. I got
mine from Apple's archives. My ROM 3 does boot from the server, but my
ROM 1 does not. Actually, I tried two different ROM 1's.
The ROM 1 does connect to the server IF I boot it from a floppy with the
AppleTalk software. I've tried AppleShare 2.0 and 3.0, with the 6.0.1 GS/OS
net boot software installed. No dice. I've tried three different servers,
an SE/30, Classic II, and an LC-something with a 25 mhz 040. The same
thing. ROM 3 boots off the server, ROM 1 does not.
Since the ROM 3 does net boot, and the ROM 1 connects if booted from floppy,
that eliminates many possible causes. Obviously the hardware is working and
the software is working in those instances.
So I'm going to try to get a copy of the older GS/OS versions.
