I've used ForkSplit and ForkSplitPro by R. Hardman (and paid the
sharewaree fee) some time ago to get rid of the fork Macs add to
files.  It seems like I later found a IIGS (16-bit) program that would
do it too, and was easier to use as it was a GS/OS mouse-driven
program.
