Red light means "ready". After power-on, Profile performs a self-test.
Easch sector is read, if it's damaged, a spare sector is assigned. There
are 32 spare sectors available, after that your drive is gone.

You can listen to the step motor (or remove the cover and watch it). It
should move with a smooth ticking sound, any irregularities indicate the
use of a spare sector.

The three Profile utility disks are available at Asimov. IIRC you can
use the drive with Prodos and UCSD Pascal, but you cannot boot from it
or access it with DOS3.3 or CP/M.
