I still don't have a desoldering iron at home, just a temperature controlled
station and solder wick. The flux really helps suck out the solder, but for
chip removal this method really sucks (no pun intended). For my best work I
am forced to go into work and use the proper desoldering iron, a real nice
PACE model.
On the GS the way they folded the legs under really pi$$es me off. We NEVER
do this for soldering chips, and whoever made these GS boards, you think
folding 2 legs would do for the wave soldering machine... oh no the whole
bloody lot !!!, it's virtually impossible to remove them without causing
some damage.
