    If you have 1.25 MB (1280K) that is enough to run 99.9% of
all existing Apple IIgs software published or released. This will
be adequate for someone running a floppy based system, just
wanting to play games and begin exploring the system.

    Adding 4 MB or so becomes essentially once you add a
hardrive and install GS/OS, especially with several system
extensions added. There were actually a few programs that 
*required* 2-4 MB to even launch (that > 0.01%) though 
regardless, if your using the IIgs for serious use that extra 
memory _will_ benefit the software. I remember even
rendering TrueType fonts ate memory rather quickly.

    My own system has 8 MB installed, though I consider 
that overkill (back when my IIgs was my main system, I
got by nicely with 4-5 MB). It is nice though being able to 
have a RAM Disk active and still have plenty of extra 
memory left over.
