Yeah, the (16-sector) Apple 5.25" disk drives all use the same controller
card, except that the Disk ][ requires the dual 20-pin connectors and
everything else uses the 19-pin D connector.  Except for the drive
connectors, the cards are basically the same.  So the DuoDisk and 5.25"
Drive can be interchangeably connected to the same controller.

Don't know if you can connect a DuoDisk to the daisy chain port of a 5.25"
drive, though.  I imagine it would work (though only one drive would
function), but I won't even guess at which drive will work as Drive 2...!

Oh, and yes, you can connect a DuoDisk to the daisy chain port of a 3.5"
drive on a IIgs, but if you do, the DuoDisk has to be modified (a resistor
has to be clipped).  I don't have the details here.  There are actually
two DuoDisk modifications.  One is a resistor clip that allows the DuoDisk
to operate on a IIgs SmartPort; the other is a capacitor clip that
prevents the DuoDisk from doing an unconditional spiral rewrite when it hits
certain copy-protection schemes or crashes from Pascal.  (Yeah.  Real messy.)
