Well, the TransWarp predated the Zipchip. I'd guess that it's more a matter of two

engineers designing two devices to do the same thing. Each accelerator has some
advantages over the other though. Looks like when AE redid Zips idea they improved

it substantially. A pity AE didn't or couldn't license the technology from Zip.
When
they started selling the origional TransWarp again You'd think they could have
improved
the speed a bit somehow but maybe they thought the market was dying for new 8 bit
hardware and their efforts were better spent elsewhere.
