What you need to try to do (but it's painful), is to burn the CD at 1x
speed, and if you can get the older 1x-4x CDs.

I know ... I know it sounds wierd, but some older CD readers are fussy
about CDs burnt at high speed ... i.e. 50x.

I have not powered up my AppleCD 150 for a while to test most stuff
nowadays.
