You're right, but to my experience usually people don't do that.

Like I said, if you do the stuff for yourself as well. A good way to get
feedback is to make your own website as see how people visit it and
download the game. Then, you have at least some feedback even if nobody
cares to send an email. Don't let me be misunderstood: I don't think that
the Apple II folks are bad or so, it is just natural. Also, the question
that rests is how many people exactly play your game. To be honest, I had
a look at it, too, but since I don't like Wizardry either, I did not look
any further. Would you expect me to send you an email?

Yes, it is funny: even when you do stuff for nothing, you still have to
advertise it.
