Avoid ebay like the plague.

My GS was bought for $3 with a scsi card. I've found many external scsi
drives anywhere from $2 on up to about $20. I think $20 is high, but
still... far short of 150.

I can't speak with any authority here, but there is quite a bit of
legitmate/free software to be had. Transferring it can be a pain though.

An accelerator and 8 megs would certainly be nice, but you might survive
with less. Get the base system, and hunt around. The $700 price is for a "I
gotta have it tomorrow" system. I place the "I'm patient" price as something
like $120 for most or all of that.
