It worked! Thanks for the info Paul. The IIGS now has its own
system disk.

 Diskcopy 4.2 and System 3.2 were both on the Apple site. I could
not find system 5.04 there, and I believe the System 6.01 that is
available there is likely more than my 1280K ram GS can handle.

If anyone has a link to a downloadable Apple IIGS System 5.04,
let me know...
