Re: Apple II/e newbie - please help



Thanks again, Phoenyx and Jon, for the information.

The 80 column card does not have the extra RAM.  It hangs over the
ends of the slot by about 1/2" per end, and I do not see a bank of
chips.

These I have bookmarked and toured also.  After quite a bit of
searching, I was able to locate some of the files that was suggested
to me.  Now I am ready to order DOS, ProDos, and my hardware.

That's better than I can do.  I get to the point of declaring
variables and from there on, I'm lost :)

Not bad, really.  If you see someone walking down the street with
their eyes crossed and babbling unintelligently, it's probably me :)

Will do.  I think I'll hunt for a reference book or something, too, so
I can figure out what Applesoft is.

My first was a 486sx 25 MHz.  What got me started in building and
repairing them was that the system did not have a working floppy drive
or CD-ROM drive.  I made a trip to the local library and to the
nearest used book store in search of information on how to fix these.
Since then, there's been no stopping me when it comes to learning
things about computers.  My husband says I am a perpetual student...
I always have my nose in a computer book of some kind and a system
torn apart on the kitchen table.  Matter of fact, the first thing I
did when I brought my Apple home was take off the cover and start
digging around inside :)

By the way, the system I have does not seem to match up with
Rubywand's description.  The cover has a label stating Apple //e, but
the chip inside is an R6502.  It does not say 65C02.  Any ideas on
this?
