I like RubyWand's interpretation of this problem. Another possibility
that comes to mind is that you did not specify the daisy chain
sequence. This sequence is very specific. The 3.5 drives must come
first, and the 5.25 drives must come at the tail of the chain, last in the
sequence.
My flagship Rom 3 IIgs, on which I now type, has this on its drive daisy
chain: Apple 3.5 platinum drive, AE 3.5 drive, and Duodisk twin 5.25
drives. All work perfectly and all are recognized on the desktop.
