A few e-mails have been received that say there is no self-test for the
Grappler.
Here's the situation...I have an e-mail correspendent who can't get his
brand new DeskJet to print. Using the Printer.Test file that comes with
Harmonie (all that really does is a PR#1 text dump), nothing is printed, so
logically I've narrowed the problem down to the Grappler or the cable.
After going around and around in e-mail, it turns out that the Grappler had
been purchased used, and so my correspondent cannot confirm that it works,
and he's never used it with any other printer.
So, maybe my question really should be: How do you determine if a Grappler
or a parallel cable is DOA? Assuming, of course, that the person
performing the diagnosis is a relative newbie without a meter to test the
cable.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Joe Kohn
