Once upon a time the Church needed money to build some fancy cathedrals.  They 
were selling these things called "Indulgences"  <---a  hand written pardon for 
sins that suposedly would let the purchaser into heaven.  Monks turned them 
out by the boat load.  Then, this feller named Gutenburg came along.  The 
Church thought "Hey, with his press we can cut the number of employed monks 
and still make a killing!"  And it worked fine till one day... A bright guy 
figgured out: "You I could print those things too, or even other stuff. 
There's no law saying the church  is the only one who can play" 
Before you know it "Open Source Indulgences" flooded Europe and the days of 
the Mainframe cathedral were over.
