Have you done any soldering at all inside your GS? AFAIK the speaker is
not connected to the disk drive electronics, so it does not click all of
its own. Something must have been tampered with.
Besides, the Finder accesses the 5.25" drive only when it starts up or
when you double click the drive icon. When you do nothing, the drive is
silent. The only drive that flashes periodically is the Unidisk 3.5.

The GS does not make noises when you pull down the menu bar.
In GS/OS 6.0.x, you can assign noises to several actions, such as when
you put something in the Trash. But NOT when you pull down a menu. So,
again: something must have been tempered with.
