     Was all set to suggest using the 816 Paint File Utilities until noticing
that the conversion is _to_ hires.

     I tried converting a 280 by 192 pixel B&W .bmp to hires. You can get a
good IIgs super-res conversion using Convert 3200 as suggested by Supertimer;
and, a utility called "The Graphics Exchange" will convert from super-res to
hires.

     Since single hires "1" dots show up as colors, the results using TGE's
"Standard transfer" are likely to be pretty groady on a color display.
Depending upon the particular pic, you may get an 'okay' hires pic for
monochrome display.

     If the graphic you want to transfer does not take up more than half of the
screen, you may get better results doing a 2 for 1 "Scaled" transfer. Using the
mouse, you select just a part of the source (super-res) pic. Then, in the hires
target screen, you select an area which is twice the size. This gets you two
hires dots per source dot for better black and white dot rendering.

     An easier method might be to take the super-res pic to Platinum Paint
first and select the portion of the pic to Double in size. Once you get a
doubled pic you like, you could go to TGE and do a "Standard" transfer.
