Also, why would anyone want to change it?  Some people here may want a
Mac to say,
boot a IIGS system.  So that way people will still post Macs for sale in
the Apple2 newsgroups.

Maybe the best thing to do is to come up with a common protocol for
redirecting the lost Mac users
to the correct newsgroups.  Example:

    Sorry, this is an Apple II newsgroup.  While related to the current
Mac by being from the same
    maker they are not Macs.  The appropriate newsgroup for this Mac
discussion is <blank>.

As opposed to:

    Are all the freaken Mac users a bunch of idiots that they can't find
thier own newsgroups?

Okay, maybe the nicer response needs some work, but you get my point.
This way the Mac user
gets directed to the correct location and they are not alienated.
