In my opinion, I think that we as people who use computers more should show
some kindness to beginners.  We all started at nothing at one time and had
people who were more knowledgeable help us out.  I am sure they look at us
like fools as well.  I admit when I was new to computers it was pretty
overwhelming to use a pice of software I knew very little about with the
tens of thousands of newsgroups.  Since we have been around for a while, we
take for granted we know where to go, while new people, all they see is
information overload.

When we respond to people like this, it makes the people in the newsgroup as
a whole look bad.  Like a bunch of elitists.

Why cant we simply direct them to the proper group and do a good deed for
the day?  The person who originally posted that message may very well be
looking at it now, with a bad opinion of the the people here.

You can generally tell when people are spamming or being troublesome.  I
think this is a huge overreaction.
