I suspect you are thinking of the Mac version of AppleWorks (previously
called ClarisWorks), which has a communciations module.

The Apple II version of AppleWorks does not have a communications
module.  (The Apple IIgs version does, but that isn't an option on the
IIc.  It is a pretty awful communications module anyway.)

On an Apple II?  Yeah, right.  Apple made but never released an Ethernet
card for the Apple II.  There has never been a complete third-party
solution, but there are some hacks in progress.

Again, wrong computer.  No Apple II has ever supported IrDA.
