It depends on how they are doing things.  If you dial into a shell
account you can get an 8 bit connection you typing "telnet -8".  When
I had Linux set up, I would telnet to Delphi using "telnet -8 -E -L".
I can't remember what the other commands do.  One has something to do
with the escape character.

If you are using Spectrum v2.2 and a Marinetti connection and
connecting to your ISP's shell that way, you probably need to do some
configuration on your ISP shell account to allow an 8 bit connection.
I vaguely recall reading something about this a while back but can't
remember any of the details.
