All,

I've been looking to replace my LOUD external SCSI drive with a
notebook-sized internal drive for awhile but the prices on eBay for
megabyte-class drives are outrageous. What I do see are a ton of 36GB
and 72GB drives going for as little as $10.

So, avoid eBay and be happy. DCP has a good assortment of small SCSI drives with warranties.

Example:

Conner CP3100 104MB $67.
IBM DSAS-3360 360MB $39.

I've purchased several drives from them and have never had any issues.
