CMS External Hard Drive

I've aquired a CMS external SCSI HD that I want to connect to my IIgs, but I
have a few questions. 1.) Can I connect it to any SCSI card or does it have to
be a CMS card?  2.) What kind of cable does it take? is it a straight through
DB25 (Male) on both ends? 3.) What software can I use to format and partition
the drive?  where can I get it?  4.) There are 8 dip switches on the back of
the CMS case, what are they for? I assume to set ID but I don't know the
combinations. 

I have looked at the Csa2 FAQ for HD & SCSI but it only answered some of my
questions and none of the above. If anyone has any of this information I would
appreicate the help.
