On several occasions I have encountered problems with ProType interpreting
text files.  In these cases, I pull up ResEdit and change the file type to
TEXT and creator to pdos.  (The problem is that ProType tries to decode
text files, and either takes a long time checking large files or simply
chokes on others.)

Anyway, it is just another useful technique.
