My experience with Apples started in 1982, and I have to say that I
don't recall any of the "punk hacker" stuff being prevalent then.
Certainly there were few satanic references at the time. Most of that
seems to have kicked in later, especially around the time Gibson's
Neuromancer took off. Just my recollection however - YMMV.

I did read an article in Wired last year about Woz's thing for repeating
digits. According to the article, he grabbed 888-888-8888 as his phone
number when that prefix became available, but had to give it up when too
many babies punching the same number repeatedly wound up calling.

It was a good article, and sure made me misty-eyed for the glory days of
the ][. I have no idea how factual it was though.
