Unless I missed a reclassification, ZLink is shareware, not freeware.
This means that you can only try it for a limited time before you must
either pay for it or delete it/stop using it.

However, it is still handy for null-modeming a bunch of stuff during
the trial period using Y-Modem and hopefully you'll remember to
transfer a public domain or freeware comm program that you can
continue to use after the trial period.  :)

For a freeware communications program that supports X-Modem you could
try Comm.System by Jim Ferr.  It is a small, simple, ProDOS 8 based
communications program.  There is also TelCom for the IIgs from
Procyon which does X-Modem and Y-Modem receives and X-Modem sends.  I
think TelCom is the one that can do file transfers in the background
when running under GNO/ME as it is a text based applications and not a
GS/OS desktop application.

Then there is also Agate but I can't remember if it was freeware or
not but it did have a lot of interesting features even if the user
interface left something to be desired.  :)

There is lots available, you just need to look around.
