You do not need to hack the speaker leads to get at the sound output.
The exact same output is available at the headphone port at the back
of the IIGS. Plugging a set of amplified speakers into that port will
automatically turn off the internal speaker.
The headphone port's levels are the same as those of PC sound cards,
so PC amplified speakers work on this port perfectly.
Long before PCs had decent sound cards, Apple dealers were selling
Bose speakers for the IIGS that plugged into the headphone port.
