I have done the same thing on my GS. I ran a lead from the internal speaker
connection out the back of the case to a reasonable size speaker from my old
stereo system. This is the cheapest upgrade you can do for your GS sound. If
you haven't tried it you will be surprised just how much better it sounds
than the pathetic speaker inside the GS. The amplifier on the motherboard is
capable of driving a good size speaker at a very good volume.
