How to install a CD-Rom

Hello

First of all: I never before worked with a Mac!!!

I tried to plug a new SCSI CD-Rom to the external SCSI connector
and first it seemed ok, but I couldn't get it work.
All I know is: it's not a termination problem!
I tested the Drive with my PC and worked really fine!
What steps do I have to follow, to install a CD-Rom Drive at a Mac???
