Re: MacGS?
The point would be to save desktop real-estate and have the "cool" factor of having a
2 'n 1 box.
Nevertheless, a refurbished 166Mhz Apple DOS card runs $399 from Shreve systems, and
a 200Mhz AMD (32MB Ram) Orange Micro card runs $775 from Pacific Business Systems,
new.
About a year ago, I bought:
case w/ supply: 19.95
Triton TX MB: 79.95
Pentium 200 mmx: 110.00
S3 2MB video: 57.95
64 MB Ram: 83.00
Keyboard: 9.95
Mouse: 12.95
Total: $373.75
Add a 2GB IDE disk for $69 for a grand total of $442.75.
And a monitor switch for $10 brings it up to $452.75.
So for about $50 dollars more than a used Apple 166MHZ Dos card, and $322 less than a
200MHz Orange Card, you can get a full P200MMX system, less monitor, which you would
already have if you had a mac.
