Re: Freezing IIGS

: The RAMFast card causes lots of lockups in my system. I sent it back to
: Sequential for a replacement. It is a good card (mine was defective), but
: their technical support sucks.

I had my first ramfast SCSI card die after about a year. I found their
tech support reasonably helpful and they ultimately replaced the card for
free - twice. The first time they sent me a "used but good" which failed to
work at all, the second they sent me a brand new one, which has worked like a
trooper.

Their RAM card performed flawlessly up to when I replaced it with the one
from alltech that let me use the plethora of 32 pin simms I had lying about.
To the best of my knowledge it's STILL performing flawlessly in the friends
computer I put it in.

I agree though that it's not normal for a GS to lock up at random like that.
I'd tend to agree that once you've cleaned all the contacts and seated all
the chips the thing to look at is the power supply. I know mine isn't going
to last too long, it gets *awfully* hot when I run my GS for long periods of
time.
