Freezing IIGS

My unaccelerated, ROM 01, IIGS occasionally and inexplicably locks up.
Sometimes the mouse moves but doesn't do anything. Sometimes I can
restart, other times the only thing I can do turn off the power.
I am using GS/OS 6.0.1, a Sirius 8Mb RAM card, and an external SCSI
hard drive with a RAMFast 256K SCSI card. 

Is this something that just happens to GS's a little more often than some
other computers or is there some simple explanation and solution?

Also, some software, ProTerm 3.1 for example, won't recognize the "B"
partition of my hard drive. To most programs its no problem.
