I need some help with gs

I have a IIgs with an applied engineering 2 mg hard drive installed and
am having problems that the loaded programs in the hard drive icon are
not recognized.  Can I erase the whole hard drive and reinstall the
programs that  I have printshop and appleworks 3.0  these work just fine
for me  or do I need other programs to help the hard drive to recognized
the programs loaded in that icon
