The original Macintosh came out in January 1984. The Apple IIc was
April 1984. The IIgs was September 1986, so it was well behind. (The
Mac Plus was January 1986.)

Not all of them - the SE was still a closed box with no colour, but it
did have a slot and ADB support. It was the first Mac released after
the IIgs (possibly at the same time as the Mac II, which was the first
slotted Mac), around April 1987.
A similar design resurfaced several times - the SE/30 and Classic
series. Pretty much every other Mac model prior to the iMac has been
reasonably easy to open and add things to.
ADB was apparently designed for the Mac, then borrowed by the IIgs
development team, who got their implementation out to the public first.
