The chip count varies in that the ROM chips have been reduced from two chips to
one single chip. The memory on the motherboard was kept at 64K but the chip
count was reduced from eight chips to two chips (4 x 64k chips). An extended
80 column card was included as standard equipment. The card size was also
reduced, about the size of a credit card, and the same memory chip reduction
was used (two 4 x 64k chips instead of eight 1 x 64k).
Actually this motherboard was also used in some of the last IIe machines made
proir to the change to the platinum case with the numeric key pad. The power
supply case dimension also changed to be the same size as the one used in the
IIGS, at least some of them even have the holes necesary to fit the IIGS case.
