     The problem with your analogy is that it asserts a loss on the part
of the owner. In the case of oldie game software and, really, Appleworks
5, there appears to be no loss involved. Indeed, quite the opposite
seems true. Such situations serve to illustrate the wisdom behind our
copyright laws.
