Both motherboards use the same case and power supply.

There is no problem putting a ROM 3 MB in a ROM 1 case because the ROM
1 case is just an Apple IIgs case.  It is not specific to the ROM
version.  Heck, you can even put a ROM 0 in that case, not that you'd
want to.  :-)
