    Short answer: Sitting on a shelf somewhere in California, in an
uncompleted state, all due to the fact Maxis wanted something in the
range of US$150,000 to license an Apple IIgs port. Wolfenstein 3-D
was in a similar snag years ago--when I spoke with John Carmack he
said it would take a minimum of US$10,000 to license the game (in
the end that changed, on condition it was released as freeware).
