I have a Global Village 14.4 modem (Teleport Gold II). The manual says it
will work on any Macintosh, the bottom of the modem says it's for Performas,
and I can't plug it into any Mac but a Power Mac and compatibles.
The mini-din connector has one more pin than the 8pin port on Macs and the
iigs.
Also, there is a keyed piece of mettle preventing the plug from going into
the port, unlike the one that most cables for the modem port has.
Is there any way to modify the modem?
I have traced the mystery pin inside the modem to a transistor and from
there to a pad where a power plug should be, (let me mention that there is
no power plug or on/off switch).
