One problem: the VGC is soldered onto the motherboard in a ROM 3 IIgs.
I haven't had a close look at late model ROM 1 machines, but it may have
been socketed only in the original ("Woz") machines.
Apart from anything else, this is a QFP socket, and they are difficult
to connect anything to, especially on a semi-permanent basis. I have
used a CPU emulator with a pod that inserts into a similar sized socket,
and it is enormous! It is also easy to knock out of the socket.
