Bad analogy. I've owned several Beetles, and *new* parts are dirt cheap.
Fenders, $30. Aftermarket rims, $50 each. Bumpers, $75. Altenators,
starters, $40-90. Ect, ect, ect. This is the great part of the ole
Beetles, you can practically build a new one for a few thousand bucks.
Anyway....
I find it dissapointing that as old and obsolete as the IIGS is (don't
take this as a flame, it's still fun and does everything it ever did, but
you have to admit it is a dinosaur by modern standards), that the classic
games like Zany Golf, Task Force, The Immortal, ect, are not readily
available to those that would like them. Not only games for that matter,
everything! Surely you can't buy 9/10 of any of the commercial software
for the IIGS anymore, so why in the h*ll isn't it released as freeware or
possible to obtain in someway?
I would be thrilled to get Zany Golf again (or any of the above games!),
and it doesn't look it's gonna happen! And why should I feel obligated to
buy a used copy of Zany Golf from Joe Blow? Does Will Harvey (the
programmer) make any money off the sale? No. Joe Blow gets a few bucks
back from when he bought it, that's all.
I say that if you can't legally buy it *new* from anywhere in such a
manner that the publisher and programmer make money from it (and not Joe
Blow or somebody selling COPIES), it should be passed around so that it
can once again be enjoyed by all!
