Help! apple 2e to MS DOS

I am working with a non-profit organization that has an old Apple 2e
with AppleWorks.  This machine is dying and the organization (due to
contributions) needs to move the data to a MS Windows environment. 
Although I can create an ASCII file on floppy with the 2e the
differences in the underlying disk format from ProDOS to MS DOS prevents
the transfer of data.  I am looking for help in this area.  One thought
is to rent a current Apple or MAC that would have the ability to read
the ProDOS diskette and save the data on an MS DOS diskette for
transfer.

Does anyone know of this is possible?  What software/hardware would I
need to obtain to accomplish this?
